The Daniel Fast

Hello everyone!  It's so hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone already.  I hope you all had a marvelous one!  Me and my family for the past three years have been doing the Daniel Fast for 21 days every January.  It is a time for not just spiritual growth and refreshing, but also to get back on track for eating healthy, and cleaning out our bodies from all impurity's.

We normally eat healthy foods, but when the holidays come around it's, let's say more challenging.  There are baked goods, and you just want to eat whatever you want.  So now it is time to say so long to all of the good tasting unhealthy for you foods.

If you don't know what the Daniel Fast is, it's from the Bible when Daniel fasted for 21 days, if you would like to read about it is in the 10th chapter of the book of Daniel.  You eat only, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, water (drink), nuts and seeds, legumes, quality oils, tofu, salt, herbs, and spices.  So no sugar, meat, dairy, bread, beverages, solid fasts, and deep fried foods.

I am so glad to get back on track with eating healthy!  I love eating healthy, it not only tastes good but makes you feel good, to.  I normally read a lot this upcoming month, so below are some books I would like to.

Here are some books I have on my list so far: Blessed Child by Ted Dekker and Bill Bright, Five Glass Slippers, The Priest by Francine Rivers, Prophet or The Visitation by Frank Peretti, The Beaches and Brides Romance Collection, An Ocean Away by Lisa Harris, Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, Witness In Heaven by Gilbert Morris, Sons of Thunder by Susan May Warren, and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.  I don't know if I will read all of those, but we shall see.

I hope you all have a happy New Years!  Cheers!

Ask Me Anything Answers!

First off, thank you so much for the questions, ladies!!

Ms. Meredith asked:

1. What is one of the worst movies you've seen?

Hmmm well, I didn't care for Transcendence with Johnny Depp...it was...odd...shall we say.

2. Do you have a favorite piece of furniture in your house?

My favorite piece of furniture would have to be my antique vanity that my Dad painted for me.

Here she is!  I love the little bits of pink and that it's vintage.

3. Where do you best like to read?

I like to read on my bed mostly, or sitting on the couch.

4. When was the last time a book made you laugh out loud?

I think I laughed at some point in one of the Apocalypse Diaries books by John Hagee.  I can't remember an exact scene.

5. If you could spend one day with any fictional character, whom would it be?

This is so hard.   Ummm Farimir?  Obi-wan, Aslan or Robin Hood...I really don't know.  Any of them would be awesome!

6. What is your favorite Christmas movie?

Well, White Christmas, Polar Express, The Nativity, Elf, Christmas in Connecticut, and Miracle on 34th Street.  I know its more than one, I couldn't help myself! :D  But if I had to pick just one it would probably be The Nativity, because it is so wonderfully told and is the most important part of Christmas.

7. If you have a bookshelf in your room(if not, then just choose one from somewhere in your house), how many books are on it?

I actually have two book cases, on my big one I have one hundred and fifteen books, on my second one that is smaller I have thirty-one.  I had no idea I had so many books!

These are some of my Mom's books, I guess you know who I got my love for reading from. :)

Thank you so much, Meredith!  Great questions!

Ms. Abigail asked:

1. Who is your favorite author?

C.S. Lewis, Francine Rivers, and Frank Pretti.

2. Favorite Book/Series

The Chronicles of Narnia, and the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers.

3. Do you have any siblings? (answer only if you want to)

Yup.  I will put us in age order.  Andrew, Madison, Me, Zachary, Nathan, Millie, Mackenzie, and John-David.  Eight in total, four boys and four girls.  If you'd like to read more about our story, you can visit my Mom's old blog and look through the posts, at 1blessing2another.blogspot.com.

4. What would your dream job be?

To be an actress in Christian Movies or to do Voice-Overs.

5. If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Creative, Thoughtful, and Kind.

6. So you have any hobbies?

I like to play piano, sew, write songs, bake, sing, and taking pictures.  I also like to play on our wii with my family.

This is one of my pictures, no filter.  God is such an amazing artist!

7. Are you a morning person or night owl?

Morning person.  Definitely.  I don't like staying up late.  At all.  I get too tired. :)

Thank you so much, Abby!  Awesome questions!

Ms. Olivia asked:

1. Which TV shows, if any, are on your to-watch list?

Well, I missed most of season two for When Calls The Heart, and I would eventually like to watch that because I enjoyed the first season.  Maybe Downtown Abby?  I have heard that it is pretty good, so I am interested in that one.  Maybe Agent Carter, my brother watched it and loved it so I think I would enjoy it, but other than that I don't know.  Suggestions?

 2. Is there a book you know you'll have to read eventually (i.e. for school) but know (or think) you won't like?

I graduated this year, so I don't have to read anything for school, and I am not in college.  But this last school year I had to read Beowulf and I wasn't looking forward to that, but I read it and it wasn't my personal favorite.

3. What motivated you to start blogging? (It's fun to read how different people got into it, no?:D)

I don't really know, to be honest.  I guess I thought it would be fun, but then I didn't do anything with it for months, and then I commented on your blog, Olivia, and you responded to me and put my blog on your Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious blogs page, and commented on my first blog post and it made me feel like I could do it.  So that is when I decided to pick back up and keep going. :D

4. What's your favorite season?

Fall, I love seeing the leaves change color and the air is getting crisp, it's so wonderful.

5. Do you have any pets?

We have two dogs and a pot-bellied pig named Georgia.

This is my girl, Pepper, she is a Shih Tzu and Poodle mix.  You can't see her eyes because they are so dark!

And this is Theodore, he is a Schnauzer and Poodle mix.  He's my sister's dog, they are both so sweet!

And last but not least, Georgia, she is a Pot Bellied Pig.

6. What genre of music do you most often find yourself buying on iTunes, or if you don't have an iPod/iPhone, what is your favorite genre of music in general?

I do have an iPod and I like mostly Christian music, Third Day, Newsboys, Toby Mac, Crystal Lewis, and Amy Grant.  There's more but these are some examples.  I also have Into The Woods, Julie Andrews favorite Disney songs, Piano Guys, and some Phantom of the Opera songs.  My favorite genre is more upbeat/rock, I like to tap my foot or get into it with bobbing my head up and down. :D

7. Top 5 favorite LotR characters?

Gandalf, Samewise, Aragorn, Farimir, and Eowyn.

8. What is your biggest pet peeve?

I am a neat freak, so I really don't like it when there are things in a mess, dishes in the sink, things sitting out, that kind of thing.

9. Water, milk, or juice--which one do you drink more often?

Water, it's so good for you and refreshing.

10. Do you have any especially fun Christmas or New Year traditions?

We normally take a baking day before Christmas Eve and make all kinds of yummy things.
We always open a gift on Christmas Eve, and leave out summer sausage, cheese and crackers for Santa.  As for New Year's, it's my brothers birthday so we go out to eat, and lately I have just been going to bed earlier than midnight, I like my sleep. :)

Thank you, Olivia!  Fantastic questions!

Thank you so much, everyone!  That was a lot of fun, maybe I'll do it again some time.  Thanks again, and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

The C.S. Lewis Tag!

So today I am going to be doing Abby's C.S. Lewis Tag!  Even though C.S. Lewis week is over, we will never forget the wonderful author who has inspired us, encouraged us, and has shown through his work the love of Christ.  Fun fact, C.S. Lewis was born in the year 1898 and I was born in the year 1998, one hundred years later.

Rules:

1. Thank or link back to the blogger who nominated you.

2. Answer the questions. :) Put as much as you want, or as little.

3. Tag some of your blogging friends, to get the tag around!

1. How did you hear about C. S. Lewis?

I don't remember a specific time that I heard about him, you just kind of know, you know?

 2. What was the first of his books that you read?

The first one I read on my own was The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe.  My Mom has read some of the others to me, and my Dad has, too.

 3. Which one of his book(s) is your favorite?
I like all of them, but these are my favorites, in no specific order; The Horse and His Boy, The Last Battle, and Mere Christianity.

 4. Describe what you feel when you read his books.

Excited, joyful, happy, and sad, especially when it is over.  Like a good tea that you want to get the last drop and then it is gone.  The good thing is is that you can always brew more, or read it again. :)

 5. How have you been touched or impacted by his works?

I love that he has put in Jesus in such an impacting way.  It is definitely not pushy at all and yet it is still so evident.  He has shown me to never lose faith, everything will turn out all right in the end.  That you don't ever have to be afraid, stand up for what is right.  And above all, never stop seeking the One who loves you with all of His heart.

 6. What would you say to anyone who hasn't read any of his books?

They are wonderful, you should definitely read them!  He did so much more then just fantasy, which in my opinion are still scrumptious.  He wrote things that make you think.  Really think.  And that is good, you don't always need to be entertained by a book or movie, sometimes its good to get your brain going and take in all that is happening.

 7. If you could write a letter to Jack, thanking him, or asking him questions, what would it be? (show us as your answer.)

Dear Mr. Lewis,

I have enjoyed reading your work, immensely.  You have brought into words things that are to hard for others to do.  Thank you for sharing your work with the world, the Good Lord knows we all need it.  You have a wonderful gift, and I can't wait to read more of your books.

Blessings,
Morgan

Thank you for reading!  As for the tagging, I leave it open for any one who wants to.  Enjoy!

The Chronicles of Narnia

Narnia.  "Now then, where to begin?  Ah yes..."  I have always loved Narnia.  When I was younger I think that I kind of connected with Lucy the most, probably because I was close to her age.  I still love Lucy so much, she has such faith, hope, and trusts Aslan, even when her siblings don't.

She never gives up and is so brave.  As in the words of Aslan, "If you were any braver, you'd be a lioness."  I love that quote.  I love her relationship with Aslan, its how we are supposed to have with Jesus, trust Him with all of our heart, believe that He is going to take care of every thing, and seek Him, even when you are the only one, you will find Him.

I love the others too, each in their own way.  But my ultimate favorite is...Aslan.  I am so glad that C.S. Lewis put Him in.  In what better way than a Lion?  He is the Lion and the Lamb, the Ultimate sacrifice.  There is so much Jesus in these stories that I LOVE.  Him giving up his own life for Edmund, rising again and conquering death once and for all.

Sure they think that the snow is melting because of the kids being there, but I think it wouldn't have melted if it weren't for Aslan being there.  I mean, He is the one that sang the whole world into being. (I love that) He is the one who made the animals talk.  And yet, it was man (even though it was a kid) who let a witch/giant be awoken and come into Narnia.

I honestly wish He was in it even more, I love Aslan.  I love how at The Last Battle Lucy says, "In our world, too, a stable once held something inside it that was bigger that our whole world."  Yes, and that is why we celebrate Christmas, because of Jesus's birth.  As it is coming closer, I get so tired of hearing and seeing "Happy Holidays," NO!!  It is supposed to be "Merry Christmas."  Even today some one said "Happy Holidays," to me and my mom, and my mom said, "Merry Christmas," in reply.  I am so done with people trying to leave Jesus out of Christmas.  It is called CHRISTtmas, and it is when we celebrate HIS birth.  Ughh.   Sorry for that little outburst, just needed to get that off my chest.

Back to Narnia.  Now I am going to do some C.S. Lewis quotes I love.

He has so many great quotes!  Thank you so much for reading!  Please, go check out Abby's blog for all kinds of posts about C.S. Lewis and Narnia.  Happy early Thanksgiving everybody!  I hope you have a wonderful one!

My Favorite TV Shows

Hello everyone! SOOO I decided to do a post on some of my favorite TV shows to watch (Thanks Olivia:).  Here we go!

On my last post I mentioned getting into Alaskan Bush People recently, and I love it!  This is one of only two shows that I am currently keeping up with.  The other is the Holiday Baking Championship, although, right now I am not happy with them.  I'm not happy, Bob, not happy.  Ask me why...because they eliminated my favorite baker!  I was so upset, it was so wrong.  But I still want to see who will win, and for that I will probably keep watching. :)

Fixer Upper is an awesome show, Chip and Joanna take old messed up houses and turn them into something awesome!  I really like to watch this over the other shows like it on HGTV, I like that they are Christians, and they are nicer to each other then people can be on those other shows.  And I also really like Joanna's style, she mixes some old things with new things, which I love!

I love House Hunters!  Especially the international ones.  I like to see where people move to, how much it is, and what the places look like around the world.

I actually first watched this on Netflix, and I love it!  Its clean, nice, and I love Jack Thornton!
It is also based of the books by Janette Oke, the same author of the Love Comes Softly books.

Some TV shows that are no longer on but I found, and watched and loved were, North and South, and BBC's Robin Hood.  So, I actually started to watch both of these because of Richard Armitage.  And I love both of them!  They are both so different, on one hand he gets the girl in one, and not in the other.  They were both really good and I am glad that I got to watch them.

One of my favorite Channels is TCM (Turner Classic Movies), I prefer to watch the really old ones on there, like 1959 and under.  This last weekend me my mom and my sister watched The Enchanted Cottage, and o my goodness!  It was wonderful.  I just loved it, if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for reading! I would love to know what some of your favorite TV shows are, and if we have any that are the same!  Also, I think it would be fun to go ahead and do an Ask Me Anything.  So, if you have any questions for me, please leave them below, and I will answer them in a couple weeks.  And please, feel free to ask as many questions you like!  I can't wait to read them. :)

Until next time, Morgan

A Change

Hello everyone!  Well, here we are already in November, it's kind of hard to believe.  Time goes by so fast.  So, I decided it would be good to change the blog look.  Since this header was liked the most, I decided to do it first, though it will probably change again later to one of the other ones. :)

Isn't that pretty?  Thank you Pinterest! :)

Lately, I've been watching Alaskan Bush People.  Have any of you seen it?  I have been really enjoying it.  I found all of the episodes on YouTube, and the new season started last night.

If you haven't seen it, it is about a family of nine, and the parents raised their kids in the Alaskan Bush.  There are five boys and two girls.  The more I watch them, the more I like each of them for who they are.  If you have watched it, let me know who some of your favorites are.  And if you want to watch it, it's on the Discovery channel.

From left to right; Snowbird, Bear, Gabe, Billy, Ami, Noah, Matt, Bam, and Rainy.

If any of you have an idea for any posts that you would like to see,  just let me know down in the comments.  I don't really have any idea's right now, maybe an Ask Me Anything?  I don't know if I have enough followers for that.  Let me know! :)

In a couple of weeks though, Ms. Abigail at Castles In The Air will be hosting a party for C. S. Lewis's Birthday!  If you'd like to check out her blog, and see all of the details, just click on her name or the Castles In The Air above.

Thank you so much for reading! :D

Some Things I've Been Up To

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all doing well.  Today I am going to share some things I have been doing.  I know I have never really shared anything like this before so here we go!

I started up ballet again!  I say 'again' because I did ballet for years when I was younger.  It has been a long time since then, but I am excited to relearn.  I am going to be in the Nutcracker and I am very excited.  I love the costume, it is so pretty.  I love pointer shoes, and have always wanted a pair, maybe some day I will get a pair of my own. :)

I know it's only October, but Christmas will be here soon!  I have been working on making Christmas presents this year, trying to get creative.  It has been very fun, looking for ideas on Pinterest and what not.  Very excited about giving people their gifts.

 Listening

I have been loving Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts.  It is one of the songs in Disney's Cars.  If you'd like to listen to it, here is a link Life is a Highway

Reading

House by Frank Pertti and Ted Dekker, it was very interesting.

Watching

The other day I watched Ben-Hur from 1959.  It was really good!  I loved how they portrayed Jesus, so awesome!

Enjoying

Dubsmash.  Seriously, I saw one yesterday on Pinterest, and I couldn't hear it, so I went to YouTube and found it!  It was only 9 sec. long but awesome none the less!  Okay, I'll tell you what it was, it was Haley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter), Chris Evens (Captain America) and the guy that plays Jarvis in the Agent Carter TV show, I don't know his name.  The song was Another One Bites the Dust.  It was so funny!  Me and my siblings have also been doing some, and I must say I LOVE making them, it is so much fun! :)

See yah later, thanks for reading! :-D

Movie Reviews; The Giver, and The Young Victoria

Today, I am going to be doing two movie reviews.  Lets start with The Giver.

In the world that Jonas lives in there is no color.  At the coronation they tell you what you have to do and be.  There is no choice.  The world they live in is represented well through black and white picture.  Very strict.  No Freedom. But no one notices because it is all they have ever known.  Everyone is equal.  There is no envy.  No deceit.

There is a scene when the memory is war, but it isn't that long.  They have a place called Elsewhere, where they send the old people, and the babies that are not healthy.  This place is not real, they put a shot into them that kills them.

Jonas.

At the coronation, which is when they basically graduate and now get their forever job.  Jonas's friends, Fiona and Asher are chosen for regular jobs.  Asher is a drone pilot, and Fiona is a caregiver
for the babies.  Jonas, he gets to be the Receiver of Memory.

The first time he goes to the Givers home, at the edge of their world and drops down into the unknown.  The Giver puts his hands on top of Jonas's, and suddenly, Jonas is in this beautiful world of color, with snow falling all around him.  He see's a sled for the first time and rides down on it.  Once he gets to the bottom poof, he's back at the Givers house.

I saw this movie in the movie theater, and I must say it truly is amazing when you see the color, the crispness of it.  Here you are in black and white and then...color.  God's beautiful creation.

The Giver.

Jeff Bridges plays the Giver, and I must say I really like him.  The Giver holds all of the memories of the world forgotten.  The elders that are in charge of this world, don't even know the life before.  If they need guidance they will ask him for it, otherwise, they leave him alone.  He is the keeper of memories, but he has no one to share them with...until Jonas is chosen as the new Receiver.

*SPOLIERS*  The reason I say *new* is because there was a receiver before Jonas, that couldn't handle some of the more...sad memories, such as war.  The few scenes with her, she is played by Taylor Swift. She went to the Elders, and was sent to Elsewhere. (she died) * END OF SPOILERS*

Fiona.

She is like a love interest for Jonas, but I like her.  She is fun and sweet, and cares about Jonas.  It's nice that they grew up together being friends, then it develops into something more.
She is also not afraid to do the right thing.

Overall, this movie is on faith and freedom.  Jonas gets a taste of what he has been deprived from his whole life.  He sees all the good, and some bad.  But he knows that the way that he, his family, friends, and everyone else have been living, is not really living at all.  So he sets out to do what is right, even when it is hard.  He has faith that he can do it, and freedom ringing in his heart.

The scenes when he is getting memories from the Giver, are truly beautiful.  The color, scenery, all of it.  I think sometimes we take for granted all that we have been blessed with.  God is truly an amazing artist, I love His creation that is all around us.  The mountains, lakes, ocean, trees, flowers, and the sky.  There is more, but I will stop there.

If you have not seen this movie, you should!  It is well done and inspiring.

The Young Victoria

The Young Victoria is about Queen Victoria and her younger days.  She is played by Emily Blunt and she did a great job! Her outfits where gorgeous!  And as you can see in the picture above, she is wearing flowers in her hair, and that was true with the real Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria.  See the flowers? :)

 Aren't they adorable?

Victoria inherited the throne at the young age of 18.  Her father and all of her uncles had died, and she was the only legitimate child left.  She is also the first Royal to live at Buckingham Palace.

She meets Prince Albert (her cousin) before she becomes queen, and they like each other from the start.  They write each other, and Albert comes to visit.  It is the sweetest of the romance stories, because it was real.  Not just in the movie, but with the real Albert and Victoria herself.

This movie is so sweet, I love the parts with Albert and Victoria.  You can tell that they really love one another.  Albert didn't want to marry the Queen for a title, he wanted to marry her because he loves her.  One of my favorite parts is when she proposes to him, because you cannot propose to a Queen, she has to ask you.

Prince Albert: I just got your note. I was riding.
                                           Queen Victoria: Sit, please.
Prince Albert: The park is marvelous.
Queen Victoria: I'm so pleased you like it. I do want you to feel quite at home... I'm sure you're aware why I wished you to come here. Because it would make me happier than anything, too happy really, if you would agree to what I wish.
Prince Albert: And stay with you?
Queen Victoria: And stay with me.
                                          Prince Albert: And marry you?
                                         Queen Victoria: And marry me!

*happy sigh*  I just love this part.  Reading it doesn't do it justice.

Besides the romance aspect, it also has some bad guys, allow me to introduce you to,

 Sir John Conroy

Grrrr.  I don't like this guy.  Of course I  do like Mark Strong the actor, but the character...is bad.
Sir John is a control freak, over all of the Duchess of Kent's (Victoria's mother) business.  He takes care of her funds, is super bossy and wants to control Victoria.  Once Victoria is Queen, she takes her leave and lives at Buckingham Palace.  Though he does come to live there for a time with her mother.
He is cruel to Victoria, and eventually, he is dismissed.

Victoria to her Mother: Oh, and if you think that I will ever forget that you just stood by silent and you watched him treat me thus, you are dreaming!

Yes, Sir John heavily influenced The Duchess of Kent.  In some not good ways.

 Lord Melbourne

Though you would like to think he is help the Queen, he is in it for his own selfish game.  He tries to control Victoria, and she trusts him, believing that he is helping her.  I love Albert, he can see right through him.  Here is a quote that Albert says to him;

Lord Melbourne: Your Highness, there's your opening if you'll take my advice...

Prince Albert: Lord Melbourne, forgive me but you seem to have confused me with a member of your club. I am not your drinking companion nor your whist partner. I am the husband of your sovereign. And as such, I will make my own decisions, and I neither seek nor invite your advice. Good evening."

You go Albert!  Stand your ground man, stand yo ground.

Prince Albert

I just love Prince Albert.  He is so sweet and kind.  He truly loves Victoria with all of this heart.
He wants to help people and Victoria.  They even had their desks put back to back, so that they could face each other while they worked.  Also, do you recognize the actor??  It is Mr. Wickham from Pride and Prejudice 2005.  When my mom told me that I was kinda freaking out.  Yes...it does look like him, just remove the facial hair.  I like him better with facial hair, as I do with most guys. :)

*SPOILERS* And when he gets shot at the end, for protecting Victoria.

Queen Victoria: [sobbing] I'm so sorry! I thought I was going to lose you!                      Prince Albert: I don't think he was a very good shot.
Queen Victoria: Why did you do it? So stupid, why did you do it?
Prince Albert: I had two very good reasons. First, I am replaceable and you are not.
Queen Victoria: You are not replaceable to me!
Prince Albert: Second, you're the only wife I've got or ever will have. You are my
whole existence, and I will love you until my very last breath.

Awwww.  Isn't he just the sweetest?! *END OF SPOILERS*

Over all, I loved this movie.  I like that it is pretty accurate to the real story.  It was so delightful, and just...ahhh.  If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.

As a final note, Victoria and Albert loved each other so much, that after he died, Victoria went into such grief. Each day she would have his clothes laid out, and wore only black for the rest of her life.  Thankfully, that didn't get into the movie...that would have been sad.

Also, they had nine children.  Yes, nine.  In the movie Albert said he wanted a big family.  :)

If you read all of that, kudos to yah. :)  I hope you enjoyed it.

Blessings,
Morgan
